Biography of Pedro Nicolás Gerdy (1797-1856)

Engineer French, physician and surgeon. Member of the Academy of Medicine of Paris. He was born in Loches in 1797 and died in 1856. Son of a modest farmer who gave instruction at the cost of great sacrifices, went to Paris without sponsors and with very little money, getting to finish his studies with many difficulties. Broke through by dint of study and will, with little health and lack of resources. He held various positions of junior at the Faculty of medicine in Paris, and then he was appointed Professor of the same. In 1837 he entered the Academy of medicine. His works include: Anatomy, comparative forms of the human body; Physiology medical, educational and critical; Treaty of bandages; Feelings and physiology of intelligence, and a large number of loose items and reports on pathology, psychology, Physiology and anatomy.
