Biography of Francisco de Aarsens (1572-1641)

Dutch diplomat, born in the Hague in 1572 and died in 1641. In 1599 he/she was appointed resident Minister at the Court of France, and took part in the negotiations of the truce set between the States-General and Spain, under the guarantee of France. He/She then served another mission in Venice, and returned to France with the character of Ambassador, enjoying enormous credibility with Luis XIII and Richelieu. Their participation in the judicial murder of Yoden Barrevelt caused their continuous historical notoriety.
