Biography of Fermín Abanzit (1679-1777)

French scholar, born at Uzès in 1679 and died in Geneva in 1777. He was versed in all the sciences, and enjoyed such a reputation, that King Guillermo made him offers ventajosisimas to arrest him in England, but the maternal tenderness was called to Geneva. Abanzit was a Protestant and lived in Switzerland since the revocation of the edict of Nantes. His works treat of history, criticism, geology, and some other branches of science.
