Biography of Abd-El-Aziz (¿-717)

Second Arab viceroy of Spain, died in the year 717. He supported his father Muza, Lieutenant of the Caliph Walid I, in the conquest of Spain, and seized in 713 of the provinces of Jaén, Murcia and Granada. He defeated Teodomiro, Prince Goth, in the plains of Cartagena, and took Zaragoza, which finished in part the conquest of the Iberian Peninsula. He married Egilona, widow of Rodrigo, late Gothic King. It was proclaimed King and was murdered.
