Biography of Abdul Hamid (1725-1789)

Ottoman Emperor, born in 1725 and died on 6 September 1789. He succeeded his brother Mustafá III, twenty seventh sultan of Constantinople in 1774. It was the last son of Achmet III, and had qualities more apropos to govern a peaceful realm that to sustain an empire threatened by the Russians and weakened by the rebellion of the casualties of Syria, Georgia and Egypt. The different campaigns which made almost always had a disastrous outcome, causing losses of territory, until the battle of Octnakof who lost the September 6, 1788, and that cost him his life.
