Biography of Abu-Jafar-Harun (¿-847)

Caliph of Baghdad, who succeeded his father Almutasem in 842 and died in 847. His nickname was Alwathik-Billah, who has faith in God. His reign is notable only for the conquest of Sicily in 843, as a result of an expedition commanded by general Aglab, which became independent and founded the dynasty of the aglabitas. Healing a dropsy it was placed on an iron at the temperature of a furnace, and died half burned.
