Biography of Federico Carlos Achard (1753-1821)

Naturist and German chemist, born in Berlin in 1753 and died in 1821. He/She was director of the kind of Physics in the Academy of Sciences of Berlin. He/She popularised the discovery of sugar and beet, and obtained a grant of land in Silesia of the King of Prussia to establish a factory. He/She left many works, among which include: physical and chemical; memories Experimental physics lessons; Instruction for the preparation of raw sugar, syrup and liquor of beet; Instruction for the use of people from the countryside, on the most advantageous way of forming artificial meadows; Short and useful instruction to shelter the disasters caused by storms, etc.
