Biography of Sofonisba Agnosciola (¿-1620)

Famous Italian painter, who was born in Cremona in the middle of the 16th century, and died in 1620. It achieved great reputation and was called to the Court of Madrid, where he/she made portraits of Felipe II, his wife and Prince Carlos. Van-Dyck tried it in the last years of her life, when he/she had become blind; and he/she said that the conversation that had given him more lights on the painting to the lessons of his master. Sofonisba was two or three sisters, who were also devoted to painting.
