Biography of Francisco de [jesuita belga] Aguirre (1567-1617)

Belgian religious, born about 1567. He/She entered the society of Jesus, where became known as excellent mathematician. He/She was Professor of philosophy at Douai and theology in Antwerp, where he/she was also rector. He/She wrote a treatise of optics, published in Antwerp, 1613, fol., sought by the curious even after having published the famous Newton, and was the first who introduced these studies in the company. He/She died in Brussels in 1617.
