Biography of William Aiton (1731-1793)

English botanist, who was born in 1731 and died in 1793. He/She went to London as a simple gardener and, in 1759, he/she was appointed Superintendent of the botanical gardens of Kew. He/She got to Acclimate many plants whose cultivation had believed impossible. In 1789, he/she published a work entitled: Hortus Kewensis, i.e., catalogue of the plants cultivated at the Royal Botanic Garden in Kew.
