Ecuadorian humorist, known in the art world with the pseudonym of Evaristo Chancleta. He/She was born in Ambato in 1912 and died in Ambato, Ecuador on July 22, 1984. I am very soon orphan of father and mother. He/She conducted his primary studies in Quito and the high school in the colegio Bolívar de Ambato. He/She began his artistic career in a theater outdoors in his hometown. By its fine satirical humor, both in radio and television programs, earned the nickname of "King of laughter", and it was considered to be the prototype of the quiteño humor. He/She has been honored by three Presidents: Yerobi Indaburo, Guillermo Rodríguez Lara and Jaime Roldós Aguilera. Also two times by the municipality of Quito, and one by the cities of Ambato and Guayaquil. In Los Angeles (California), he/she received the Palme d'Or, and deserved that his photograph was placed in the Gallery of Fame. The House of representatives, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of his artistic work, honored him with a plaque at the national theatre of Sucre.
