Biography of Duque de Austria Alberto II (1298-1358)

Duke of Austria, son of the Emperor Alberto I, born in 1298 and died in 1358. He/She was the fourth son of the Emperor, but having three older brothers died, he/she inherited his father States. Thirty-two years he/she was paralytic legs as a result of a poisoning. He/She refused the imperial crown offered by Pope Juan XXII, after having deposed and excommunicated Emperor Luis de Baviera. He/She spent all his life in fruitless wars against the Swiss, and ruled their States with moderation and tolerance, deserve the nickname of Prudente.
