Biography of Fray Pedro de Alcalá (s. XVI)

Religious and Spanish philologist of the 16th century. After the taking of Granada, he/she was sent by the Catholic Kings to work on the conversion of the Moors, hence his art work to learn the Arabic language or Arabic Vocabulista in Spanish (1505), which is the main source we have to know the peculiarities of the Arabic in Spain and its relationship with other Romance languages of the time. The transliterated dialect is used in Granada.
