Biography of Leone Allacci (1586-1669)

Italian man of letters, born in the island of Chio in 1586 and died in Rome in 1669. Pope Gregory XV sent him to Germany in 1622 to transport the library of Heidelberg, the elector of Bavaria gave the Pontiff to Rome. Cardinal Barberini immediately made him his librarian. In 1661 he/she was appointed Librarian of the Vatican. He/She left a large number of works, most of theology or liturgy; some of them are designed the conversion of the Greek schismatics. He/She was a great epigraphist and search engine of ancient manuscripts.
