Biography of Francesc Allegre (s. XV)

Spanish humanist, born in Barcelona in the second half of the 15th century. He/She was consul and Royal Treasurer of Catalonia in Palermo.

His humanist work, although his work does not correspond to the letter with the spirit of Italian humanism, stands out for a great comment from Ovid's Metamorphoses on key moral and allegorical, published in catalan (Barcelona, 1494) with the title All├ęgories e exhibitions, Transformacions llibres dels morals. The Edition enclosing the text of the Latin writer translated into catalan. He/She also composed the Passio of Jesucrist, who also was born in Barcelona, between 1493 and 1495. The impression of both books was of the famous printer Barcelona Pere Miquel.
