Biography of Fernando [bailarín] Alonso (1914-2013)

Dancer, teacher and director of Cuban ballet, brother of Alberto Alonso, born in Havana on December 27, 1914 and died on July 27, 2013. ibid.

He studied dance at the school of Ballet of the society ensembles music of Havana and expanded his training at the School of American Ballet in New York. He/She made his debut and began her career as a dancer in various musicals, subsequently joined the Mordkin Ballet and the Ballet Caravan. In 1940 he/she married the Ballerina Alicia Alonso, together they entered in the New York Theater Ballet. In 1948 he/she formed the Ballet of Cuba with his wife, who headed the company until 1975. Subsequently he/she was director of the Ballet in Camaguey and the National Ballet of Mexico. He/She participated in the V competition of Ballet New York International (1996) as a member of the jury.
