Biography of Elizabeth Anderton (1938-VVVV)

Dancer, teacher and British Director, born in London on May 28, 1938. He/She studied dance at the school of the Sadler's Wells. In 1955 he/she joined the Sadler's Wells Opera Ballet and two years later became a member of the Royal Ballet, where he/she ascended to principal dancer in 1961. In addition to the traditional repertoire Anderton premiered the Ballet: Les Deux Pigeons (1961) of Frederick Ashton, Errant Knight (1968) by Antony Tudor and Romeo and Juliet (1977) by Rudolf Nureyev, among others. He/She retired as a dancer with the Royal Ballet in 1974, and from 1976 he/she worked with the London Festival Ballet, first as Professor of the company, and between 1979 and 1987, as Associate Artistic Director of the same. He/She represented the role of Queen in the recording for video of El Lago de los Cisnes (1988) ballet, Natalia Makarovaversion.
