Biography of El Ilustre. Antíoco IV (200-164 a.C.)

King of Syria, called Epiphanes or illustrious, son of Antiochus III. He/She was born around the year 200 and died in 164 before BC succeeded his father in the year 174; He/She took over a part of Egypt, which the Romans was forced immediately to leave; harshly punished the Jews insurreccionados, and died when he/she was going to personally attack Mattathias and Judas Maccabaeus, both winners of their troops in various meetings. His character was full of antics, which were cause to change his nickname of Epiphanes (the bar) in the Epimanes (Loco).
