Biography of Werner Arber (1929-VVVV)

Swiss microbiologist who was born in 1929 in Gränichen. He/She studied at the Zurich Federal technical universities and at Geneva, where received his doctorate in 1953. He/She worked in the laboratory of Biophysics of the universities of Geneva and Los Angeles. Since 1970 he/she was Professor of molecular biology at Basel. Nobel Prize for medicine won the prize in 1978 for his research on restriction enzymes capable of cutting the viral DNA, bacterial, and their use in the domain of molecular genetics.
