Biography of Bonaventura Carles Aribau i Farriols (1798-1862)

Poet, public writer and Spanish statesman born in Sant Gervasi de Cassoles (Barcelona) November 4, 1798 and died in Barcelona on September 17, 1862.

He studied at the Seminary of his hometown, where he/she became acquainted with the classics, ancient and Spaniards. It also followed studies of experimental physics and shorthand in the House, even to collaborate in an edition of the Tachigrafia in the Castilian language, Marti, added by Francisco Serra and Ginesta (Barcelona, 1816).

It participated in the meetings of the philosophical society, in which read poems later collected under the title of poetic essays (Barcelona, 1817). It dealt with fine arts and presented a speech about the possibility of a universal language. Began to work also in the Diari de Barcelona, besides in the scholar, manuscript, weekly which developed members of the philosophical society.

He was one of the authors, with the anagram of Ubariso of freedom restored, premiered in Barcelona on May 2, 1820. He was appointed director general of the Treasury in 1847, director general of the currency in 1852, in whose condition wrote a vindication of the conduct observed by the general Directorate of factories and stagnant effects House of currency and mines on the records referred to in the Royal Decree of 24 May 1853, ms., and was also Secretary of the administration of the Royal heritage in 1856.
