Biography of Miguel Artigas Ferrando (1887-1947)

Spanish writer, born in Blesa (Teruel) in 1887 and died in Madrid in 1947. During the Spanish Civil War he collaborated with the national side and different cultural positions of political designation: Librarian of the Institute of Spain; Director of the library Menéndez y Pelayo in Santander, from 1915 to 1930, where he prepared his catalogue of manuscripts, edited some unknown texts and re-established the University summer courses following the occupation of the square by the national troops; and, from 1930 until his death, director of the National Library of Madrid. He collaborated in the direction of the National Edition of the complete works of Menéndez y Pelayo (1940-1959) and wrote some works of this author. He made several studies on Góngora, as Don Luis de Góngora y Argote (1925), biographical sketch of Góngora (1928) and the life and work of Góngora (1938).
