Biography of Bagoas (ca. 350 a.C.)

Eunuch in the service of the Persian King Artaxerxes III, who poisoned in 338 BC to proclaim himself King. However, he/she gave the throne to the son of the former, Arses, who also killed along with his family. Then he/she enthroned to Darius III, of 45 years of age and only surviving Achaemenid Prince. Trying to poison him, the new King forced Bagoas to drink the hemlock that was intended for him. Previously, Bagoas had participated as general in the siege of Pelusium in the Egyptian delta, enclave that could conquer.
