Biography of Bakennefy III (ca. 700-665 a.C.)

(Bak-n-nfy) Monarch of the Egyptian region of Athribis and Heliopolis, son of Padiiset, who succeeded as hereditary Prince. He/She took part in the uprising against Assurbanipal, but being defeated by the Assyrian was executed and replaced by Psammético I. Bakennefy III is documented in different objects from the treasure of Athribis, a statue and appears also deified on an altar of the later Pharaoh Nectánebos Iof the XXX dynasty.
