Biography of Queen of Navarra Blanca de Artois (¿-1302)

Queen of Navarre. The count of Artois and niece of Luis IX of France's daughter. He/She married Enrique I in 1270, and later with Eduardo, Earl of Lancaster, brother of the King of England. On the death of her husband, in 1274, he/she faced Spanish pressure, which sought the Alliance with France by entering into the marriage of her daughter Joanna of Navarra with Felipe the beautiful one of France. He/She founded the Abbey of the Cistercian Order Argemoles.
