Artist Chilean of Spanish origin, born in Barcelona in 1923, has excelled as a painter, draftsman and recorder within the trend of the new Chilean figuration, in the framework of which his work has won international recognition and has been exhibited at some of the most prestigious museums in the world.
Roser Bru received primary education in prestigious Montessori school and the school Institute of la Generalitat in Barcelona. Like so many other children, he had to emigrate after the entry of the Francoist troops in the Catalan capital, in 1939, being your place of final destination Chile after a short period of internment in France. He studied fine arts at the school of fine arts of the University of Santiago, where he met about the work of Pablo Burchard, and interested in engraving, in 1957 went to study this technique in the 99 Workshop of Nemesio Antúnez. That same year he carried out his first solo exhibition at the Beaux-Arts Gallery of Santiago, Center where he returned to expose two years later. During this time he returned to Spain to learn about on-site work by Catalan artists such as Tàpies. In 1964 she was appointed Professor of drawing and painting from the art school of the Catholic University, feature that served until 1968, and again from 1989 as a guest professor. Some of his creations are part of the permanent collections of the National Museum of fine arts of Santiago, of the Metropolitan Museum of New York, of the Museum of modern art of the city, the Saatliche Museum of Berlin and the Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, among others.
Artist of a very personal style, his work is based on the originality and simplicity of composition, built essentially around the technique of drawing. The purpose is to develop a new language for the figurative recreation of old themes, characters and pictorial in a unique recovery of memory, fundamental concept of their art. The key is that this recovery is made from a new point of view, in a disruptive way that tries to represent, using all resources considered necessary, if the combination of several techniques: painting, drawing and engraving. The simplicity of his works is reflected in details saving to focus attention on the figure, while a particular sense of timelessness, the artist is able to create correctly, it invades everything.

Among other awards, he won first prize in drawing and engraving (1958) and painting (1960) of the official Salon of Santiago, the Osvaldo Goeldi Prize II biennial Ibero-American engraving (1965), the prize Club of the stamp of Buenos Aires (1968), and the Grand Prize of the Salon of the graphic of the University Catholic of Chile.
