Life

His characters find themselves immersed in the most varied scenarios - historical or political - and in more subdued and environments conducive to the tenderness and simple look, with intelligent, critical and ironic undertones. Among his notable works are film Blasetti four steps in the clouds (1942) and the many interpretations as the singular Peppone - the Communist Mayor-, beside the great Fernandel, in a series of films about Don Camilo - adaptation of the character in the novel of Giovanni Guareschi- which began with Don Camilo (1951), Julien Duvivier, and lasted in other four titles that end with comrade Don Camilo (1965), by Luigi Comencini.

He was also part of the artistic picture of other interesting films as Termini station (1953), by Vittorio De Sica, Cronaca di an amore (1950) and La signora delle camelie (1953), Michelangelo Antonioni, the long night of the 43 (1960), Florestano Vancini, and other B-series or peplum productions filmed in Europe in the 1960s.
