Biography of Quinta Claudia (s. II a.C.)

The 2nd century BC Roman Lady When the statue of Cibeles is led from Pesinunta to Rome, ran aground at the mouth of the Tiber boat and told the scryers that only the hand of a chaste woman could put afloat. Scipio, in charge of receiving the statue, came with several ladies, among them was Claudia, whose conduct had been quite misleading. Just touched, sand moved the vessel, by which it erected a statue in the lobby of the Temple of the goddess.
