Biography of Efialtes (500-456 a.C.)

Status and general Athenian man. Born around the year 500 BC and died around 456 BC. He was a friend and supporter of Pericles, whom he partnered and proposed several measures favorable to the Democratic Party, including the major reform that decreased the power of the Areopagus, giving a blow to the oligarchic party. These services provided to the democratic cause excited the hatred to the opposite party, which finally made the murder of Ephialtes.
