Biography of Eduardo Eichwald (1795-?)

Naturalist and Russian doctor, Professor of zoology and Mineralogy at Petersburgo. Born in 1795. He traveled throughout Europe, the Caucasus, the shores of the Caspian Sea, Iran and Algeria; He made important discoveries and wrote a great number of works among which the following can be cited as most remarkable: Zoology specialis; Sketch of the natural history of the Lithuania, La Volhinia and the Podolia; Ancient geography of the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus and southern Russia; Orictognosia; Geognosy; Observations of natural history collected on a trip to the Tyrol.
