Biography of Pierre Gilles (1490-1555)

Scholar, naturalist and French traveler, born in 1490 in Albi and died in 1555 in Rome. Made observations about a Ichthyology of the Mediterranean and the Adriatic, and traveled East to do scans in those regions. His most important writings are those listed: of vi natura animalium, of gallicis et nominibus latinis et piscium, topographia Constantinopoleos and De Bosphoro Thracio.
