Biography of Zar de Rusia Iván I (¿-1340)

First Russian sovereign, took the name of Grand Prince of all Russia. He/She succeeded his brother Jorge in 1328 and forced the head of the Russian church to transfer their residence from Vladimir to Moscow. Kalita, which means 'pocket', because he/she always wore one at the waist to give alms was nicknamed. In his later years he/she retired to a monastery, as it was the custom among the Princes, and died in 1340.
