Biography of Jorge Jobet (1916-VVVV)

Poet, journalist, and Chilean educationalist, born in Perquenco (IX Region of the Araucanía) in 1916, which has published some of his poetic works under the pseudonym of Claudio Indo. Author of some thirty books of poetry, the whole of his poetic production is distinguished by the care and rigour in the formal development of each composition and the selection of its contents, in a wide range of records ranging from metaphysics and elegiac poetry to the poetry satirico-burlesca.

Driven a clear literary vocation from an early age, he attended college of philosophy and literature to specialize in another of his passions, the Sciences of education. As a teacher, he has taught in different Chilean educational institutions, among which stands out the Valparaíso School of journalism, which was Director and which could transmit all their knowledge accumulated after a long and fruitful career by leading periodicals of his country. Because of his role as journalist he was awarded in 1969 with the first prize of the Inter-American press society.

In his capacity as poet, Jorge Jobet departed from the traditional heritage of their place of origin to deploy a varied and protein spectrum of reasons ora symbolic, ora philosophical, ora humorous, but always subject to a meticulous production process. Among his titles of poetry, stand amazed discoverer (1957), nature of being (1959), my provinces (1963), introduction to the feeling (1970), the beginning of the end (1978), contact in North America (1978), sonnets of affection and thought (1979), Paradise (1980) need, well spend the years (1981), bullet and Lily (1982), relationship of Chile (1983-1984), theological sonnets (1985), by love to always (1988)Diary (1990), from the walls to the air (1996).

In addition to these works in verse, Jorge Jobet is the author of a series of essays on various subjects, collected in the volume entitled notebooks in clean (1993). Considered to be one of the most prominent in the Chilean literary scene in the second half of the 20th century, it has actively intervened in numerous industries (such as the co-founding of the Ateneo de Santiago, institution which was then counselor), and has been awarded important recognitions and Awards (such as the awards of the Association of writers of Valparaiso, Chile's society of writersthe municipality of Santiago, Editorial Andrés Bello, etc.).
