Biography of King of Portugal Juan III (1502-1557)

King of Portugal, son of Manuel. He/She was born in 1502 and died in 1557. He/She succeeded his father in 1521; Vasco de Gama was named viceroy of the Indies; Brazil divided into captaincies; introduced the Inquisition in Portugal; admitted in their States to the Jesuits and sent missionaries to the India and America. It was the first sovereign granted properties to such order, to which it is believed that it belonged.
