Biography of King of Cirene Magas (ca. 300-250 a.C.)

King of Cyrene, son of Berenice I and her first husband, named Philip. After marrying his mother Ptolemy I, it was commissioned by the conquest of Cyrenaica, which was named King. He/She then married a Seleucid Princess and declared independent of her half-brother Ptolemy II, remaining in power about 50 years. Magas established alliances with some cities of Crete and even maintained contacts with the Indian King Ashoka. At his death his son-in-law Ptolemy IIIsucceeded him in Cyrene.
