Characteristics of Islamic monotheism

The fundamental experience that inspired to Muhammad, and is based on the teachings of the Quran, is the only God's sovereignty. Men as individuals and humanity as a whole are subject to his power. It is the power of creator, Lawgiver and judge. But it also is compassionate and merciful, always willing to forgive whoever repents. This doctrine is summed up in the formula: "Dios, and Muhammad is his Prophet". In fact Muhammad knew how to present his revelation, as "seal of the prophecy", which collects and exceeds the prophecy judeo-Christian. The Dios de el Islam is not Trinitarian, therefore do not recognize Jesus as God's son. Islam is based on four pillars, as well as of the faith. These are: the prayer canonical (recitation of the Quran); alms (which is a kind of obligatory tribute); fasting during the month of Ramadan; and the pilgrimage to Mecca, which should be done at least once in life. A further commitment of the Muslim community consists of the "holy war" against the enemies of God, i.e. the pagans who reject the conversion. This war is not directed against "the people of the book", which are: Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians.
