Biography of Francisco Maldonado (¿-1521)

Spanish Aristocrat, English leader of the uprising of the comuneros in 1520. He was born in Salamanca, city that rose up in arms against the policy of the new Spanish monarch, Carlos I. After participating in the Junta of Ávila, he directed forces comuneros from Salamanca, participated in the taking of Torrelobatón and reformed Padilla militias to attack Tordesillas. He was beheaded in Villalar together to his companions, Juan Padilla and Juan Bravo, on 24 April 21.
