Biography of Claude-François Ménéstrier (1631-1705)

Choreographer and French Jesuit historian born in Lyon in 1631 and died in Paris in 1705, which took its name from the old French word menetrier; Master of dance and instrumentalist. He organized various public shows and wrote Des Ballets Anciens et Modernes selon les règles du Théâtre (Paris, 1682), the first book in the history of dance.
