Biography of Xavier Nogués (1873-1940)

Traditional Spanish painter, born and died in Barcelona (1873-1940). His early works include illustrations for the weekly Papitu, picturesque series of his Catalunya, L'humor to the Catalonia of the vuitcents and L'abecedari Català. He/She cultivated the decoration in various forms: murals to the temple in the cellar of the Galerías Layetanas Gallery and House in La Garriga Plandiura; ceiling tiles, frieze of 40 m in the agricultural Union of Pinell de Bray (Tarragona); oils for different decorations in the Barcelona City Council. His most important works are the popular theme of naive style, treated with fine humor, such as: the sardana and Mercat D'olot.
