Biography of Valentina Pereyaslavec (1907-1998)

Dancer and American nationalized Russian teacher, born in the Ukraine in 1907 and died on January 4, 1998. He/She studied at the school of the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, where he/she graduated in 1926. He/She danced with the Russian companies of Kharkov and Sverdlovsk, and premiered the main role of the ballet Ilusiones Perdidas (1936) by Leonid Jacobson. After further their studies with Agrippina Vaganova in Leningrad and collaborate with this pedagogical tasks, Pereyaslavec became company of Lvov in 1940, although it was soon deported to Leipzig by the Germans to work in a factory. When World War II ended in 1945, opened her own school in Ingolstad, but later, in 1949, immigrated to the United States and was since 1951 Professor at the school of American Ballet Theatre, as well as guest in different companies.
