Biography of Isabella Rossellini (1952-VVVV)

Actress italo - American, born June 18, 1952 in Rome (Italy).

One of the twin sisters born of the union between the actress Ingrid Bergman and director Roberto Rossellini, his childhood was not exempt from emotional problems due to continuous removals of his parents, arguments and fights, and his family situation, with half-brothers from other previous marriages: Pia, the largest (by Ingrid Bergman) and Robertino, two years older than the twins (from Rossellini). At the age of thirteen, Isabella said symptoms of scoliosis and suffered a long and painful process, first an escayolamiento which lasted eighteen months and then complicated operations that restored its weak spine, but that extra strengthened his character, he confessed to recover from his last speech: "from now on, when I speak of pain, will know what it means. Maybe I serve to help others in their suffering".

After completing basic studies in Italy, traveled to the United States, where he remained several years studying various disciplines at Finch College and at the New School for Social Research in New York. On his return to Rome he began working as a television reporter and interpreter-translator. Almost for fun accepted intervene as an actress on a movie starring her mother, Nina (1976), Vincente Minnelli, which appeared with touching of nun, joining sister Pia.

This debut, almost a family game (his sister Ingrid made makeup artist), encouraged his artistic vocation: was claimed by the brothers Paolo and Vittorio Tavianito star in with Michele Placido and Saverio Marconi meadow (1979); but the commercial failure of this film, as well as the following who played, Il Pap'Occhio (1981), Renzo Arbore, made him doubt their abilities to act, so it chose to intervene in television programs, notably one that became a weekly space of great acceptance in Italy, l'altra domenica (1979-1982), and that led to a radical shift in his career. Photographer Bill King chose his face as the cover of the American edition of Vogue and its activity as a international model took off in a vertiginous way, especially by the multinational L' L'Oreal/Cosmair was chosen to be the image of its brand Lancôme.

Did not return to film until the year 1985, after having broken her marriage to Martin Scorsese, who had married in 1979, the film was nights of sunshine (1985), Taylor Hackford, and meant his encounter with Mikhail Baryshnikov, with whom he began a romantic relationship that ended when she met David Lynch, which provided him with several things: a complicated emotional experiencethe fascinating character of Dorothy Vallens in blue velvet (1986) and the not less attractive for wild at heart (1990), which she granted the disturbing, figurative and symbolic, mask of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.

His career continued stabilising as her love life was completed by a second marriage (John Wiedeman, father of her daughter Electra) and a stormy relationship with Gary Oldman, in the shooting of the nonsensical film about Beethoven that was titled immortal love (1994), Bernard rose. The seductive personality of Isabella Rossellini, always with a disturbing irony point, has managed to impose in the films he has played in recent years, and his taste for the somewhat unique parodic representations led him to characterize his mother in Casablanca to incorporate the unsettling character of Betty in You, Murderer (1989), an episode of Tales from the Crypt, under the command of Robert Zemekis.

In February 2006 it presented, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Roberto Rossellini, a book titled in the name of the father, the daughter and all the Holy spirits, and short film my dad is 100 years, in what was a strong letter of love towards his father.
