Biography of Jean Sauvage (¿-1518)

Spanish politician of Borgoñón origin, died in Zaragoza in 1518. Grand Chancellor of Burgundy at the Court of Margaret of Austria, Governor of the Netherlands was appointed. Her francophile influenced foreign policy, by entering into the peace of Noyon in 1516; and the wedding of Prince Carlos with Renata, daughter of Luis XII of France, which did not take place. He/She accompanied Carlos V to Spain, his activity as Foreign Minister, joined the fame that exploited the country self-serving, made him very unpopular and faced him to the Castilians. In 1518 he/she accompanied the sovereign on his trip to Zaragoza, where he/she died.
