Biography of George Sommers (1554-1610)

Marino and British traveller, born in Lyme Regis, in 1554, and died in 1610. It was the main organizers of the company that was formed in London to the colonization of Virginia. In 1609, he/she left for America in command of a small fleet, which was destroyed by a hurricane, with the exception of the ship that was him, disembarking in Bermuda and taking possession of the Islands on behalf of England. It is famous because it is believed that Shakespeare was inspired by their adventures to write the drama The Tempest.
